We believe that the key to sustainably transforming Foundational literacy and Numeracy in sub-Saharan Africa lies in empowering local organisations. We provide the training, resources, and collaboration needed to address the learning crisis and ensure every child receives a quality education. Daara was co-created by 11 organisations across sub-Saharan Africa and is coordinated by Better Purpose.

Funda Wande, founded in 2017 in South Africa and led by CEO Nangamso Mtsatse, empowers teachers to confidently teach reading and numeracy up to Grade 3. Through tailored materials, teacher training, and policy advocacy, it has improved learning outcomes, most notably in Limpopo, and reached over 238,000 learners and teachers in the Western Cape. Its goal is to ensure all South African children can read and calculate by Grade 3.



eBASE Africa is a leading organization focused on embedding best practices in teaching and learning, promoting school access, and improving governance in schools across Francophone Africa.
